UX design for a car rental marketplace app MVP

A client approached Exline Labs to design the complete user experience for a new peer-to-peer car rental marketplace, similar in model to platforms like Turo. The goal was to create an investor-ready MVP that clearly communicates the value of the product while delivering an intuitive booking flow for renters and a simple, low-friction listing experience for vehicle owners.

The product was envisioned as a mobile-first marketplace supporting both individual vehicle owners and small professional hosts. The client needed a UX foundation that could support early validation, partner conversations, and future development without committing to heavy engineering upfront.

The product is a two sided marketplace with three user roles.

Our UX engineering work ensured each role had a seamless experience while supporting the operational requirements of a scalable marketplace.

The challenge was not visual polish. It was managing complexity early.

The MVP needed to:

• A guided listing creation wizard for hosts, with contextual prompts to reduce errors

• Calendar and availability views designed for quick understanding across single-day and multi-day bookings

• Prominent trust elements such as verification indicators, reviews, and safety information

Each flow was designed to feel predictable, transparent, and easy to complete on mobile.

This engagement focused on UX design rather than development, but the experience was structured with implementation in mind.

The product was designed as a modular marketplace system, covering:

• Search and discovery

• Bookings and requests

• Host listings and availability management

• Earnings and booking history for hosts

• Admin oversight for approvals, safety, and dispute handling

Designs were delivered as developer-ready wireframes, interactive prototypes, and a structured design system to support future build phases without rework.

The final UI reflected a modern marketplace experience that aligns with user expectations in the UK and EU. Visual decisions focused on clarity, space, and readability to support both quick interactions and longer browsing sessions.
